Uniformation GKTWO Giveaway – Preface
For those unaware, I recently published my most successful YouTube video yet (probably the goofy-looking thumbnail). Comparing the Saturn 8k, with the Mighty 8k with the M3 Premium. All are 10″ printers with 8k screens. To me, these are the perfect balance for 90% of our 3D printing hobby community. Because they offer a pretty decent build size and details so sharp that we probably need new resin materials before we can achieve better results.
Whilst each of these printers essentially does the same thing, they all do it in different ways which may appeal to different users, differently. That’s right internet masse, others may have different needs, wants and opinions to you. And I’m genuinely happy (also shocked) to see in the comments section of this video, that’s actually ok!
But as this video went live, I had just received the Uniformation GK TWO – and here we are a few weeks later, with the review for that printer done, it just needs the footage editing together. Spoiler alert, its features are above and beyond what any of the above models do.
I’m so impressed with this printer that I’m screaming about it to everyone, and I’m not the only one doing that. I like it so much that it went straight to the top of our BEST 3D PRINTER FOR MINIATURES list.
Uniformation GKTWO Giveaway – What is the GKTwo
Why is it so good?
Well, not only has this relatively unknown brand delivered a product where you can get a feel of its build quality from the first press of the on button (seriously, this is the best power button on any printer I’ve ever used). But Uniformation has looked at the issues most 3D Printers enthusiasts have, and has fixed them.
Have a look at any 3D printer Support group and it’s filled with posts of “I can’t”, or “I’m struggling” or “How do I… (get this working at all). Then have a look at the Uniformation Facebook group and bar the odd admitted noob, (you are welcome by the way and the community will help you), it’s all, look how awesome my prints are.
So, here’s what they have done to make the printing experience on this better than anything else.
- The lid is flipped up and over, and it’s not like they just have a front facia, the front and sides all flip up giving you full and unobstructed access to the internals. Normally when printing you need to find some storage for the lid. whilst accessing the build plate and vat, here it just flips out of the way and does it sensibly… not impressed? ok let’s go on.
- The vat just slides into place. No more daft little thumb screws that get caked in resin and can eventually get stuck in the printer (I’m looking at you Mars 3 and Mono 4k) The vat slides and clips into place. It also has an easily replaceable screen protector.- let’s go on…
- The build plate is genius! One of the biggest issues with printing is levelling your bed. 1-sheet-2 sheets 5 sheets of paper later and you’re still clueless as to what is best. And even when you do get it level, the pulling forces from the printing process will soon unlevel it (I’m now looking solely at you Elegoo). With this, you use no sheets of paper. The printer comes with the bed pre-levelled for you! but even if you do need to adjust it because of terrible courier handling, Just loosen the screws and send the plate to 0. You shore up 4 screws from above the plate until you feel any resistance. then you tighten 4 more screws to trap the balance of the plate between them – you really need to see it for it to make sense, but this mechanism holds the bed firm and no amount of repeated pulling (layer printing) will affect this because the screws are tightened at different orientations. And even better, there’s a lip around the bed which catches resin drips! oh, there’s more.
- It has a built-in heater – and a sensible one too! no this may not matter to those in consistently warmer climates, but for those in temperamental climates, it’s a godsend. The hours I wasted printing in my garage at 15°C are a distant memory. Resin like to be warm, but not too warm. For your more detailed resins especially, you’re looking at 25°C-30°. This means having your home heating at stupid temperatures, creating an enclosure or a DIY chamber heater. The GKTwo has a ceramic chamber heater built in, but it is in a more sensible place. You see, people with DIY wheaters will place them in the printing chamber. This heats up the resin in the vat, but also the cured resin. Warm-cured resin is softer than cool-cured resin. which means you really need to calibrate these too, or you get ringing on your prints where layers have stretched. On the GKTWO the heater is in the light chamber, below the resin. so it cures, through the screen, your layers of resin. Leaving the print itself to stay a bit cooler.
What this means for you is that if you struggle to print well due to low environment temps. This printer just fixed that problem for you. In my case where I can get my printing room between 20°C-22°C now anyway, it allowed me to half my exposure times and still get a sharp result. Watching the video above, I showed that I get my best exposures at 1.5s for 0.03mm layers. with this printer, I am at 0.75s for the same resin and same layer thickness.
So not only am I saving 50% of my exposure time on this printer, this printer’s LCD is rated to last 3000 hours instead of 2000 the other brands advertise. in my case, I can get 300% of the prints off this than I can on any comparable printer right now… and yet it doesn’t cost 3 times as much to buy one!
Even when I eventually do need to replace the LCD, that have made that easy too. Unlike the other printers that require almost a full teardown. Something that makes me nervous despite being a laptop Technician for 8 years and having repaired over 10,000 laptops! This is 4 screws. That’s it, 4 screws, pop the LCD out and put a new one in!
So yeah, this is a pretty big deal of a printer and one that other brands will be taking a serious look at because there are now a good few features they need to catch up to! It’s not just a heater! And I don’t know of a brand that has any of this stuff in development yet, we are a good way off seeing comparable printers.
And wait til you see their wash and Cure stations too, the former of which is a proper ultrasonic cleaner!
The issue is. Hardly anyone knows about Uniformation! So let’s fix that…
Uniformation GKTWO Giveaway – Giveaway
Here’s the Deal, Unformation wants a wider 3D printing community reach, I want more YouTube Subscribers. You want a chance to win a free printer…
So let’s work together to make that happen.
So here’s the prize up for grabs, and it’s not just 1, but 3 bundles. one of each of the 3 winners.
Each winner will get
- UniFormation 3d Printer
- Ultrasonic Resin Cleaner W230
- D265 10.2″ Curing Station
That’s over €1300 USD (£1000 GBP) worth of stuff! So yes, there are some hoops to jump through.
So, here are the steps to win. and it all revolves around increasing the visibility of this printer and brand as I noted above.
The Competition is open to everyone that Uniformation ships to – so to check eligibility, please see their page and ensure they ship to your locale
I will soon release my review video for this printer, I am aiming for this coming Tuesday, April 18th (5:15 pm GMT) but depending on how the editing/work this week goes, it may be delayed a week. When that video goes live, there are 5 quick steps.
- Be a Subscriber on my channel (You can do this now. And hit the notification bell so you don;t miss the video going live)
- Click “Like” on the video
- Watch the full video when it goes live – I don’t care if you leave it playing on your phone in another room with the sound off, but watch it end-to-end, because this helps Youtube recommend the video to others.
- Share the video – I don’t much care where, stick it in a Reddit post as a comment in reply to someone, on a forum post on Twitter, on your Facebook page – It just needs to be public as I will be asking for a link to it as proof this step was done and remains live when the prize draws are done.
- Comment on the video and tell me what you like to print/want to print on the GKTWO (multiple comments are welcome but still only count as one entry)
Yes, it’s a bigger ask than most competitions, but it’s also a much bigger prize pool than most. And what we very much need to do is avoid robots and scammers from entering.
Here’s when the Prize Draws will happen and how you can see them.
Once again, it will be on the YouTube Channel. The first draw will happen when the upcoming Uniformation GKTwo Review Video gets 10,000 views, the second draw will be at 25,000 views and the third at 50,000 views. and that’s views, not subscribers – and yes, I am aware that people can just play the video on repeat to increase the views.
When we hit those view milestones, I will do a live video with every name in the pool and announce the winner. I will then contact the winner, verify they are the correct person and that all the steps above were followed. I will pass your details onto Uniformation for them to ship you a printer with Wash and cure stations as a bundle.
We will be announcing an end date for the competitions so if we don’t hit the milestones, the competition will end with fewer winners – this is still being determined by people who can do business math and ROI stuff. I’m simple and just talk about things.
if you have any questions, please let me know in the comments…
