Well, whilst you were reading that, it’s almost like someone was reading someones mind, because anyone who has ever followed an Artis Opus Kickstarter and chose to be notified of future campaigns, probably just got email notified of Artis Opus’ latest upcoming campaign, Display Cabinets for Miniatures! Artis Opus – the Best Hobby Storage Display Cases for Miniatures

So far, not much is known about these display cases other than the published picture below. Does this look “anything like the pic we posted yesterday?”, nah it can’t possibly be, that was a photo in a black room, this is in a white room, obviously totally different.

Now just in case we have already seen these, I need to stress that we can’t possibly say more at this time. but we can learn a lot from the photo below!

First up we can see there are multiple sizes available. And the depth of the units shown here are enough to house the base of what appears to be a Sylvaneth Treelord? Though that appears to be a larger round base? The largest unit easily houses an open box of Artis Opus Brushes and still has space for models.

There’s some good height choices here too, but unlike many other disply options available on the market. These have sensible recesses on the sides to vary your individual shelf heights.

The units also appear to be sealed? DUST BE GONE! Here’s guessing some kind of rear-load door, or a slide in window? Those would be my guesses anyway – Again I may or may not know exactly how the windows work and it may or may not be magic.

Design wise, these are in AO’s signature wood finishes, which means you can take them as it, or paint/stain them as you like.

And the Lighting!!!! Oh they nailed it! the biggest issue with display cases is daft lighting placement, if any at all. Here they have what appears to a perfectly discreet frontal light, surrounding he inside of the entitre frame!

Yes! YES YES YES YES YES!

Knowing AO, this is just the initial teaser image, the campaign hasn’t gone live yet and there’s sure to have some stretch goals or options up their sleeves.

But finally! Someone has properly solved the display case issue in a way that appers perfect for those looking to showcase their prized creations. It’s like curio wall cabinet and Nanoleaf Lights had a miniature painters baby.

It wouldn’t surprise me if miniature painting competitions over the globe look to replace their big chunky cabs with a series of these instead. Being able to actually see the models at a comp would be a huge win for everyone.

If we do manage top get hands on with these – we’ll look forward to bringing you more info as soon as we can – we may even decide they are the best Display Cases for Miniatures – considering they are the “only” display case actually made with miniatures in mind. Time will tell.

Sure you can DIY your own, if you wish to, go ahead. But at the same time, if everyone had that view, why are people even buying wet palettes? To me this is buy and done. The perfect blend of style and conveniece, but if you know of a better product already. Cool, What is it?
