Last Updated on November 15, 2019 by FauxHammer

I want to start off with thanks to John for getting in touch with us. He highlighted that Forbidden Planet has just released preorders for Mortal Realms issues 1-4. And with this gives us the first possible indication of the release date.

Thanks John!

Mortal Realms Release Date

So According to Forbidden Planet. Warhammer Mortal Realms Issue 1 will be released on Thursday 2nd January 2020. Wednesday 8th January 2020.

Immediately this strikes me as odd because it’s a Thursday and we know these issues are released on Wednesdays. However, I suspect that due to the fact that the 1st is New Year’s Day. It’s not surprising that there wouldn’t be a release this day.

* So, I just had an email update from Forbidden Planet saying the date had changed. So Issue 1 is released on 08/01/2019

I would discredit Forbidden Planet and suggest they are just guessing release date. But they have been the source of numerous details of pre-release info all throughout the Warhammer Conquest Subscription.

* And now they’ve sent an email out saying the Supplier advised them of a revised date, I’m more inclined to believe that this is the actual release schedule.

Following on from this, the other issues are apparently going to be released two weeks apart as opposed to the weekly run Warhammer Conquest had.

Honestly, if this is the case, I would be grateful. Not only will the parallel subscriptions of Warhammer Conquest & Mortal Realms have a significant impact on my wallet. But I imagine forking out almost £32 a month or even £40 in months where there are 5 Wednesday’s has put a few people off the Conquest Subscription.

It looks like there is a two-week gap between issues 1 & 2 and then it returns to a weekly run. This is exactly what happened with Warhammer Conqest

* You can pre-order up to Issue 20 now with Forbidden Planet, to see the release dates, check out our full mortal realms contents list.

As this is aimed at hobby beginners, most of which are likely younglings, it is a big ask for a parent to hand over £36 monthly!

I’ve also been wondering if there are enough Nighthaunt models released yet to even make a full army. Maybe 2 weeks makes sense so GW can continue to release more models. *Although it appears it will be weekly.

Whilst I’m personally going to take this with a pinch of salt (* less so due to the email), it is only a pinch. Forbidden Planet has been really useful in the past at getting us info long before Hachette.

I’m not even bothering with Hachette this time, I’m Subscribing Straight with Forbidden Planet and I’ve already ordered these 4 issues.

  • It’s cheaper per issue
  • It’s delivered weekly
  • It’s protected better during postage
  • Order specific issues
  • Order multiple copies of bigger issues
  • Don’t have to deal with Hachette

Many people will still say, “but Forbidden Planet Charge Postage”. Yes, that’s true, but it’s capped at £5.50 no matter how many issues you order, it doesn’t need to be the same issue and the magazine is also cheaper from them.

With a little math, you can work out how many issues you would need to order in one go to break even. An average issue is £7.99, you save 40p per issue from Forbidden Planet (it was a 50p saving with Conquest). If you put at least 14 issues (any issues) in one order (which saves you £5.60 on the magazines). Even after the capped £5.50 postage cost, you’re already saving 10p. Put more issues in one order, you’re saving even more.

And no, you don’t have to pay for all the issues you order up-front. They are billed when they are shipped.

And it’s not like you’re only going to order 1 copy if Issue 1 are you? Seriously are you,? Let me know in the comments. It’s only £2.99 (£2.84 from Forbidden Planet) and you will save over £32.
