Big savings are promised, but remember that this information is based on the currently-advertised trial. This may yet be subject to change.

UPDATE 12-01-2024: Combat Patrol will be running to 90 issues. The values throughout this article have been changed to reflect this.

Where’s all the Information about the Contents of the Regular Subscription?

You can also find an in-depth overview of the collection in our announcement article, here.

You can also find a price and contents analysis of the whole collection in this article. Make sure you check both of these out if you haven’t already done so – if you haven’t, parts of this article might not make sense!

How does the Premium Subscription Work?

These goodies will only be available if you subscribe directly from Hachette Partworks, and only if you subscribe from Issue 1.

You will be charged an extra £2 per issue for your Premium Kit delivery – that’s not £2 for the issue the kit arrives in, it’s an extra £2 on top of the cost of every issue across the collection. Instead of paying £9.99 per issue, you’ll be paying £11.99.

Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Premium Savings Article All

So, how does this work day to day? By way of an example, if the patterns of the past are anything to go by, Premium Kit 1, which contains the almighty Brutalis Dreadnought and the equally almighty Hive Tyrant will be arriving with your delivery of Issues 15-18 (specifically with Issue 15, but you’ll have paid up to Issue 18 as these will all arrive together). Assuming that you started your subscription at Issue 1, this should be coming with 5th delivery – so, five months into your subscription.

If you subscribe, your first two issues will cost you £13.98 – £2.99 for Issue 1, £6.99 for Issue 2, plus the £2 Premium charge on top of each issue, totalling an extra £4. These will likely come as one delivery. After that, Issue 3 is free, so Delivery 2 – which will cover Issues 3-6 – will cost in the region of £35.97. Delivery 3 (Issues 7-10) will cost about £47.96, as will Delivery 4 and, when it arrives, so will Delivery 5 of Issues 15-18.

At this point, by the arrival of Issue 15 and your first Premium Kit (but technically issue 18, as that ‘s what you’ll have paid up to), you will have spent an additional £36 on your Premium Subscription across these 5 deliveries – and you will be rewarded for your extra cash with the Brutalis Dreadnought & Hive Tyrant. This pattern will then continue over the rest of the collection, with your other sets arriving with Issues 33, 51 and 69 respectively, and you paying roughly £36 extra for each.

The maths is a little more complex than that, as there’s no guarantee that A) these’ll be the exact issues that your Premium Kits arrive with (as we said, this is just based on previous patterns), and B), the pattern isn’t as regular as once ever 15 issues, so some months you’ll pay more, and on others you’ll pay less. Ultimately, however, you pay an extra £2 per issue over a collection of 80 magazines ((UPDATE 12-01-2024: Combat Patrol will be running to 90 issues), meaning you pay £180 for your premium kits – which arrive roughly quarterly throughout the collection. quindi, 180 divided by 4 is 45 – so your Premium Kits average at about £45 a pop.

In all, you’ll be spending an extra £180.00 across the course of the collection

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol Premium Kit 1 – Brutalis Dreadnought & Hive Tyrant

So, first up we have the almighty Space Marine Brutalis Dreadnought and the iconic Tyranid Hive Tyrant.

Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Premium Savings Article Premium Kit 1
Workshop sui giochi RRP (£)Premium Kit Cost (£)Total Savings (£)
Brutalis Dreadnought£ 47,50£22.50*£ 25.00
Hive Tyrant£ 37.50£22.50*£ 15.00
TOTALI£ 85,00£ 45,00£ 40,00
*Note that the cost of a Premium Kit is £40, so the value for each set is given as £18.

And we’re looking at savings of over 50% for these, which is awesome.

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol Premium Kit 2 – Daemon Price & Howling Banshees

Next up are the Aeldari Howling Banshees and the brand-new Chaos Daemon Prince – this one’ll have a lot of eyes on it.

Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Premium Savings Article Premium Kit 2
Workshop sui giochi RRP (£)Premium Kit Cost (£)Total Savings (£)
Daemon Prince£ 50,00£22.50*£ 27,50
Banshee ululanti£ 37.50£22.50*£ 15.00
TOTALI£87.50£ 45,00£ 42.50
*Note that the cost of a Premium Kit is £40, so the value for each set is given as £18.

Again, with savings of just over 50%, this’ll be calling out to a lot of would-be subscribers.

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol Premium Kit 3 – Brôkhyr Thunderkyn & Killa Kans

Third in line are the Leagues of Votann Brôkhyr Thunderkyn and the Ork Killa Kans.

Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Premium Savings Article Premium Kit 3
Workshop sui giochi RRP (£)Premium Kit Cost (£)Total Savings (£)
Brôkhyr Thunderkyn£ 35,00£22.50*£ 12.50
Killa Kans£ 37.50£22.50*£ 15.00
TOTALI£ 72,50£ 45,00£ 27,50
*Note that the cost of a Premium Kit is £40, so the value for each set is given as £18.

This time savings skirt just under that 50% mark, but at around 45% off RRP, this is still a superb deal.

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol Premium Kit 4 – Broodcoven & Rogal Dorn Battle Tank

Last but not least, we have the much-memed for its Flintstone propelled hollow underside Rogal Dorn Battle Tank and the Genestealer Cults Broodcoven.

Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Premium Savings Article Premium Kit 4
Workshop sui giochi RRP (£)Premium Kit Cost (£)Total Savings (£)
covo della nidiata£ 42.50£22.50*£ 20.00
Rogal Dorn Battle Tank£ 60,00£22.50*£ 37.50
TOTALI£102.50£ 45,00£ 57,50
*Note that the cost of a Premium Kit is £40, so the value for each set is given as £18.

And with them they bring significant savings, largely carried by the high RRP of the Rogal Dorn Battle Tank.

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol – Premium Kits Final Totals

You’ll have seen it at the top of the article, but here it is again – now with the bonus of added content:

CostoValoreSalvataggio
Premium Kit 1 – Brutalis Dreadnought & Hive Tyrant£ 45,00£ 85,00£ 40,00
Premium Kit 2 – Daemon Price & Howling Banshees£ 45,00£87.50£ 42.50
Premium Kit 3 – Brôkhyr Thunderkyn & Killa Kans£ 45,00£ 72,50£ 27,50
Premium Kit 4 – Broodcoven & Rogal Dorn Battle Tank£ 45,00£102.50£ 57,50
Totale£ 180,00£347.50£ 167,50

With savings of almost £200 when compared to buying these miniatures individually straight from Workshop sui giochi’s webstore, if you’re at all tempted by the miniatures on offer via the Premium Subscription offered by Hachette, you’ll want to give this some serious consideration.

Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol – Premium Kits Cost and Savings Breakdown – Final Thoughts

As ever, Hachette Partworks have dangled a tantalising treat in front of us collectors: a delightful selection of high-value models at around 50% off their usual retail price – and at the low, low cost of just £2 extra a week per issue, it’s certainly a tempting offer. There are some really, veramente tempting models in here too – the Rogal Dorn Tank, the Hive Tyrant, the Brutalis Dreadnought and that awesome Daemon Prince.

It is key to remember, however, that this information has come to us as part of the currently advertised trial. This does mean that there is a chance that this may change. Remember how much Warhammer: Age of Sigmar’s Stormbringer collection changed between its trial and its full release? The collection took on an entirely different form in the few months between the first trial issues being released in shops and the full collection being announced.

As with many things in life, if you like the look of the collection in its current form, the best thing to do is to vote with your cash. Picking up the trial issues now helps prove to Hachette that the collection in the form they have advertised it is viable, and makes them all the more likely to go ahead and publish it.

Looking for more information on the new Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol partworks trial? Take a look at our full announcement article for even more information, as well as a first look at the collection.

Bitten by the partworks bug and on the hunt for some super cheap Warhammer 40,000 models? Make sure you check out the Warhammer 40,000: Imperium collection, many issues of which are still available over at Forbidden Planet! Sci-fi not your thing, and more of a fantasy nut? Check out the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Stormbringer collection too, and take a look at our contents article for the full scoop on this collection.
