Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 8: Issues 27-30 Review – Introduction
The Stormbringer subscription is still chugging along, with supply drops of new miniatures, paints, and other goodies appearing on people’s doorsteps every couple of weeks. Join us today for a look at everything in Delivery 8.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 8: Issues 27-30 Review – Contents
Delivery 8 is the most miniatures-heavy delivery you’ll have received yet, with no fewer than 25 miniatures spread across its four magazines. What’s more, there are also two new paints included as well so you can keep painting all your new figures.
The Magazines
Kicking things off with this month’s selection of magazines, there’s plenty here to keep you busy over the next couple of weeks. There’s heaps of new lore concerning magic in the Mortal Realms, Chaos, the armies of the Stormcast Eternals and a selection of new short stories to get you immersed in the universe.

There are also several extensive painting guides, as well as pages and pages of new rules and playthroughs. Stormbringer has a much greater emphasis on curating and playing with your miniatures than any partwork has previously, and the thorough but easy-to-understand rules tutorials will serve as an excellent introduction into the Age of Sigmar system.
Miniaturas
This month’s magazines are absolutely bursting with new miniatures. With 25 new models spread across three of the four issues, you’ll be busy with your paints and brushes until your next delivery arrives.
Número 27 debería furnish you with six Gryph-hounds. Should.

There have been some issues with this magazine, with some buyers reporting that there aren’t enough Gryph-hound sprues included. The problem looks to be limited to store-bought copies only, so if you’re a subscriber you should be fine – but it’s always worth keeping an eye out. You should be able to build six Gryph-hounds – if you find that you’re unable to, get in contact with whomever you purchased this copy of your magazine from.
There’s a fair bit of repetition across the models here, as you essentially build the same Gryph-hound twice each time. They’re reasonable models, but do be aware that some of their sprue gates are attached to contact points, so take your time removing all excess plastic from these models or you’ll find they won’t join up neatly.
Issue 30 furnishes you with 10 Hobgrots.

I wish I could be more positive about these, but thanks to reviewing Dominio and all the Age of Sigmar Starter Sets, as well as an earlier issue of Stormbringer, I now own in the region of 100 of these little models and I’m absolutely sick to death of looking at them. These are me problems, however, and looking past them Hobgrots aren’t all that bad: they’re detailed little miniatures that go together with a great deal of ease – perfect for first-timers.
For me, however, the real star of Delivery 8 are the denizens of Issue 28: Zarbag’s Gitz. These fun and unique miniatures were first released as part of the Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault season and have been very hard to get hold of for quite a while, making them a desirable group of figures.

It’s easy to see why, too. These little monsters ooze character, and their sculpted bases will be a hit with collectors too. They’re also fairly easy to build, being push-fit for the most part (but as always we would advocate a little dot of glue here and there just to ensure everything stays put).
Pinturas y Herramientas
You can’t have this many miniatures and not have some new paints to be using on them. Issue 29 comes with a pot of Runelord Brass – a paint released a few years back when Warhammer 40,000 Ninth Edition came out to help people paint Szarekhan Dynasty Necrons – and Barak-Nar Burgundy.

As both of these are Citadel Base paints, they’ll be a little thicker than their Layer paints, so make sure you take your time to thin them down with a touch of water before applying them to whatever miniatures you’re painting.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 8: Issues 27-30 Review – Final Thoughts
The Good | The Bad |
Loads and loads of new models Hard-to-find former Underworlds warband Pinturas decentes | Repetition amongst the Gryph-hound models |
Another good month for Stormbringer. As I’ve mused previously, so far there hasn’t been a single delivery that’s felt like filler. With Imperium and Mortal Realms before it, some of the scenery-focussed issues often felt like a bit of a cop-out, but as yet there’s been nothing like this with Stormbringer. We’ve still got scenery to come if the latest contents photos are to be believed, so we’ll have top see how spaced-out they are.
But another good month and another promising sign of good things to come.
