Warhammer 40,000 Imperium Delivery 17: Issues 63-66 Review – Introduction

What will likely be the final Imperium delivery of 2022 for most people is looks like it’s going to be a good ‘un. Positively bursting at the seams with models, Delivery 17 looks as if it could be one of the best yet.

Before we get into it, though, I want to offer up a quick apology. It hasn’t gone unnoticed amongst readers that recently a few of these round-ups have been delayed. We’re very sorry about this. As of about September last year, we’ve had some difficulties with our site’s systems, and certain articles weren’t getting published. We believe these are all sorted now.

As for the delay on this one, this is entirely on me: I moved house the week before Christmas and haven’t had time until today (30th December) to actually make a start on it.

Anyway, enough of that. Let’s look at some miniatures.

So, here’s everything up for grabs in this delivery – and boy oh boy, there’s a lot.

Your Space Marines will be receiving some sizable reinforcements this month! Before we have a good look at the models, though, let’s have a quick glance over the associated magazines.

The Magazines: Issues 63-66

Issue 63 introduces readers to some of the sneakier parts of the Adeptus Astartes by furnishing you with three Primaris Infiltratoren, one Primaris Eliminator, and one Primaris Suppressor.

There’s no lore and no short stories in this magazine, however. You’ve got a hefty painting guide, some datasheets, and a new tutorial to keep you busy instead.

Moving on, things get back to normal in Issue 64. There’s a good spread of lore alongside a build and paint guide for the Necron Deathmarks.

There’s a reasonably hefty section of new rules and ways to play at the back of this magazine, so as soon as your Deathmarks are built you’ll be able to start wreaking havoc with them.

After a brief Necron-centric intermezzo in the last issue, things swing back to Space Marines again with Issue 65.

There’s a boatload of new lore and background info on Space Marine chapters, so fans of Space Wolves and Space Marine vehicles rejoice.

There is, as always, a fold-out. This one takes players to Warzone: Kjalma’s Skull (the setting for one of the novels you may or may not have received a few weeks ago depending on whether or not you opted out).

Finally, we arrive at Issue 66. To make up for Issue 63, Issue 66 is rammed with lore – Tyranids, Chaos, and Imperial Fists – as well as a short story.

If that wasn’t enough to be getting on with, there are also new rules and a mission to play through at the back of the issue.

Miniaturen

Delivery 17 comes with everything you need to build a whopping 22 miniatures – 17 Space Marines and 5 Necrons. Let’s take a peek at what’s available.

Primaris Eliminators

Across Issues 63, 65 and 66, you’ll be able to build three Primaris Eliminators.

These units specialise in ranged combat and are fairly easy to assemble. Each one is only made of a few components that fit together easily. The two crouching miniatures are very similar, but you can give each one a different head in order to keep subtly different.

Primaris Suppressors

The Primaris Suppressors – again, who come across Issues 63, 65 and 66 – are a little more complicated to assemble than the Eliminators. Be aware of lining up their arms with their two-handed weapons and their shoulders.

Now, mine didn’t come with any transparent flight stems. Luckily, I had a few spare from other purchases, so used those instead. If you find yourself without, be sure to get in touch with Hachette via their contact us page.

Primaris Infiltratoren

If Eliminators and Suppressors weren’t enough, Issues 63, 65 and 66 also come with no fewer than 10 Primaris Infiltratoren.

These lightly-armoured Space Marines are both easy to put together and look really great. Each one is covered in details – bits of unique gear, dials, keypads, sidearms – and whilst there are one or two repeat poses, there’s a lot of individuality here.

Do be wary of the antennae on their packs when assembling them, however (spot the one I squished).

As if Delivery 17 didn’t already have enough cool stuff in it, Issue 65 comes with a Primaris Lieutenant in Phobos Armour.

Whilst he’s easy enough to go together, mine did have one or two hefty mould lines on his form (check the right arm and pack, for example). These will come off easily enough with a little careful scraping, and you’ll be able to have your Lieutenant lead your Infiltratoren into battle (quietly) in no time at all.

Deathmark Assassins

In a stark shift from everything else in Delivery 17, Issue 64 comes with 5 Necron Deathmark Assassins.

And, perhaps unsurprisingly at this point, they’re also the most difficult to assemble models that come in this delivery. In comparison to the far more recently-released Space Marine figures, they also feel incredibly dated.

This difficulties with these figures lies in the arms and the gun, as you may suspect. The arm that supports the weapon doesn’t sit comfortably in both the shoulder socket and on the body of the rifle. Also, because the rifle component is quite large, it has to be held in place for quite a while to dry – which therefore means it can slip out of place very easily.

Still, whilst they’re a bit of a faff, they’re by no means the worst ones we’ve had across the subscription. The Deathmarks are saved from being posted on the Wall of Shame with the the Tomb Blades and Flayed Ones by the fact they are made of only a few parts (a front and back, a head, a set of legs, and two arms – one of which holds a gun) that otherwise go together with ease.

It’ll come as no surprise to anyone that there are some really good savings to be had with this delivery.

Delivery 17 ends Hachette’s Warhammer 40,000 Imperium deliveries for 2022 on an undisputed high note. Packed with really awesome models at a serious discount, even with the irritants associated with the Necron miniatures, this is a very difficult delivery to find fault with.
