A Word About Contents in Adventure 5 Onwards…

So, with the imminent arrival of Issue 47, Adventure 5 kicks off. With the beginning of this new chapter in D&D Adventurer’s ongoing collection of narratives, Hachette are going to be making some changes to their contents in these magazines.

You might remember that, a few weeks ago, you were all asked to fill out a survey regarding your experiences with the collection to far. Well, for those of you that did, I have some great news: your voices have been heard.

Since the outset of D&D Adventurer, the collection has received a lot of criticism for the lack of diversity in its contents. Dice are great and all, but does anyone really need what would be close to 60-70 sets by the time the collection reaches its terminus? Probably not – especially considering D&D Adventurer is aimed at beginners. Well, a lot of you fed this back when you filled in your surveys, and we have it on good authority that there are going to be some changes made to the magazine contents going forward.

Hachette are going to be endeavouring to put more non-dice goodies into these magazines from Adventure 5 (Issue 47) onwards. We’ve heard rumours of D&D-branded notebooks and pencils (apparently two things that were asked for extremely frequently during the survey) in order to help both players and DMs/GMs keep better track of the minutiae of their games. We’ve also heard that there will be some wipe-clean battlemaps included for certain encounters we’re yet to see in the magazine.

Note this isn’t an exhaustive list of changes – we anticipate that there might be some other non-dice bits and pieces thrown in too, but will, of course, keep you updated whenever we learn more.

Er, Where Are the Pictures…?

So, as of the date of publication of this article (10th May 2024), due to some unforeseen delays affecting the guys at Hachette, we don’t have specific pictures of the contents of the next few magazines to show you just yet.

We’ve been receiving queries as to when the next update will drop for a few weeks now, so we wanted to get something out to you all to let you know that we haven’t forgotten you, and that we are still covering D&D Adventurer. We’ve written out what you can expect to see in the next few issues below, and we’ll add images as soon as we receive them – both us and the good folks at Hachette send their apologies to you all.
