Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 15: Issues 55-58 Review – Introduction

We’re now well into the second half of Hachette Partworks’ current Warhammer subscription service. With just over a quarter of the entire collection left to go, it’s safe to say that Stormbringer has been a huge hit with buyers: varied units, plenty of factions, and loads of hobby supplies, we’ve certainly been aware of a huge uptake in interest in Age of Sigmar since the collection began (just in time for Age of Sigmar 4th Edition to drop this summer).

But there’s still plenty of time for you to finish building your army (or armies) before then – especially with so many issues of Stormbringer left to go. Missed out on a couple of issues? Worry not! Check out Planète interdite‘s current stock to see if you can pick up those miniatures and magazines you’re currently missing!

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 15: Issues 55-58 Review – Contents

As ever, the current month’s Stormbringer offerings are both varied and plentiful – and we’ll have a look at everything across issues 55-58 below, starting with a look at the magazines. We’ll then have a detialed look at the miniatures, and then any paints, hobby tools, or other gaming gear that you can expect to see this month.

The Magazines

Numéro 55, which nets you the Domicile Shell terrain piece, takes readers through a dichotomy of fantastical wonders with a look at the Ten Paradises and the Terrible Wastes. Included also is all the information you need to build and paint your new terrain piece, as well as expanded rules for your Tree-revenants from a few issues ago.

Numéro 56, which comes with the awesome Thundrik’s Proiteers warband, is all about the Kharadron Overlords. With new lore to sink your teeth into, as well as a painting guide for your new Profiteers, as well as their Warscroll, there’s everything you need to get stuck in with Age of Sigmar’s steam-powered dwarves.

Numéro 57, which comes with no less than twelve miniatures in the form of the Squig Herd, contains new information on the recently-refreshed Flesh-eater Courts, before diving into all the technical stuff you need to get your Squig Herd built and painted. The issue is rounded off with some Orruk-themed battleplans too, as well as a core tactics fold-out, so if you’re keen to get your forces of Destruction onto the tabletop, this info has plenty to get you started.

Last but not least, Numéro 58, which comes with two new paints and a look at the Idoneth Deepkin – who we haven’t heard much of throughout this collection – as well as a peek at the realm of Nagash, Shyish. With no miniatures build guide to take up pages in this issue, there is instead a very thorough paint guide designed to help you get your head around the relayering technique, as well as how to use your two new paints on your current collection of miniatures (provided you’ve been painting along with the magazine).

Miniatures

Moving on, we’ll now take a look at all that’s plastic and fantastic in Delivery 15, starting with Numéro 55‘s Domicile Shell.

This impressive terrain piece is also pretty easy to put together, made up of only a handful of large pieces. There are one or two more fragile parts – such as some of the sticky-out wooden support struts – that you’ll need to be be mindful of, as well as some of the ropes sculpted on to the model. In all, however, building this should not be a challenge.

Next up, we have Numéro 56‘s fabulous Thundrik’s Profiteers. who first cropped up in Warhammer Underworlds’ Nightvault season. Now largely out-of-production, these models will provide to be extremely desirable, so if you’re after them for your budding Kharadron Overlords army, act now.

They’re also pretty easy to build. Largely push-fit, as most Underworlds warbands are, these guys not only build well, they also look fabulous once completely assemble. Each miniature is fun and unique, and there’s loads to like here.

Numéro 57 comes with the charming Squig Herd. Numbering twelve miniatures in total, this fun kit allows you to build ten squigs (all of which have interchangeable heads and bodies) as well as two squig herders (who have different instrument and weapon options).

Whilst quite a time-consuming build, the Squig Herd is nonetheless a lot of fun to put together – and looks absolutely spectacular once assembled (and will look even better painted!).

Peintures et Outils

Numéro 58 comes with two new paints to add to your collection: Slaanesh Grey and Teclis Blue.

Slaanesh Grey is a fabulous paint for adding tiny highlights on gorey, fleshy bits of a miniature (or gums or deep, burgundy robes), whislt Teclis Blue is the go-to highlight for Stormcast Eternal cloak and cloth blue.

Wargear

Also included in Numéro 58 is a new double-sided gaming mat for you to play on.

Whilst these mats have nice graphics on them, they’re not particularly well made. Printed on glossy card, these bear some fairly beefy fold-lines and don’t unfold flat very easily. You’ll need to leave these overnight squashed beneath something heavy if you want to flatten it down completely.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 15: Issues 55-58 Review – Price and Availability

Moving on, we’ll have a look now at how much everything costs and what your potential savings are this month.

*The Domicile Shell is, we believe, one of three sprues that comes in the Realmscape Expansion Set. As such, we’ve assigned this a value of roughly a third of the total price of the box.
**Warhammer Underworlds warbands tend to be valued in the region of this price. However, Thundrik’s Profiteers have been out of production for quite some time, so the value of these miniatures will, therefore, increase.

As we’ve seen a hundred times over with these partwork collections, you always get a bit of a savings loss on any paints only issues. However, given just how much other stuff is on offer across the next four weeks, there’s still an absolutely ton of money to be saved on these parts of the collection.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 15: Issues 55-58 Review – Final Thoughts

The GoodThe Bad
Great miniatures
Bonnes économies
Small savings loss on the paints (but forgivable given everything else available.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer’s 15th delivery keeps the good energy that we’ve seen throughout the collection going with another offering of fabulous miniatures to be building, painting, and playing with. With good savings available this time around as well, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for these issues.

Missing any issues? Make sure you check out Planète interdite to see if they have any you’re after on order!
