Mortal Realms Magazine Contents List – Issues 1-80

Last Updated on June 25, 2021 by FauxHammer

Table of Contents show

Ok, so we did this with Warhammer Conquest when the contents were leaked. That article has been our most popular post ever written. I guess it’s clear that people want a repository showing all of the contents per issue. So now we are doing the same with Mortal Realms Magazine. This article will regularly be updated to show the full contents list of Mortal Realms Magazine issues. for now, it is mostly a placeholder. If anywhere leaks the full contents we’ll be sure to let you know.

Mortal Realms Magazine FAQ

For anyone who is new to the magazine or even the hobby in general, I’ve done a quick FAQ below based on our experience with Warhammer Conquest. This contains lots of useful info, even for those who have been around for a while.

Is Mortal Realms Magazine released yet?

The Release Date for Issue 1 is January 8th 2020

What is Mortal Realms Magazine?

Mortal Realms is a Partworks Magazine (In that pieces are released with each issue to make a complete product). With this magazine, you get the parts to build and paint 2 armies of miniatures from Games Workshop’s Tabletop wargame, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

What are the expected Contents of Mortal Realms?

We have an idea what we are getting based on the below image, which is the full contents expected to be received between Issues 1-80. There’s likely to be some extra paints mixed in for good measure.

Mortal Realms All Issues Contents - Featured

See our estimated cost breakdown of the contents here.

What is the best way to subscribe?

This is a hot topic, there are two main ways and a third (IMHO better) way. Below we will look at the different ways to subscribe to Mortal Realms.

Option 1:

Subscribe directly with Hachette by clicking subscribe now on their website. With this method, you will be sent 4 issues every 4 weeks and will be charged around the same time that the issues despatch.

With Warhammer Conquest, the 4 issues were normally despatched halfway between the issues in the stores. For example, if you’re package contains issues 5-8. You will get them shortly after issues 5 & 6 are released in stores, but before issues 7 & 8 (roughly). However, due to delays in Warhammer Conquest deliveries from Hachette, the boxes are now arriving in-line with the issues arriving in stores. So by the time, your issues arrive, people who buy from local newsagents may have already had them all already.

With this option, you also have to deal with Hachette’s terrible customer service if you ever have a problem.

Although, this appears to be much improved since Warhammer Conquest.

Option 2:

Subscribe with your local newsagent. They will manage your subscription and you simply need to collect your issue from them every week. Normally on a Wednesday however with Warhammer Conquest, we had reports of some newsagents releasing the issues earlier in the week.

This method can have its’s drawbacks. Make sure you trust your newsagent. In our Facebook groups, we have seen reports of Newsagents claiming that they did not get any copies of certain (high-in-demand) issues. These are also the issues that turned up in droves on eBay.

By subscribing at your trusted newsagent, you are unlikely to get the extras which Hachette provide in deliveries (not an issue, remember there are 4 “issues” per “delivery”) 1, 3, 4, 5 & 7. Nor will you get the binders or art books (if there are any with Mortal realms) which you are charged extra for. Though we have had reports in our facebook groups that some newsagents have provided the binders at least.

Option 3: The best way to subscribe to Mortal Realms

This one didn’t occur to many of us until recently but ended up the best of both options above. I actually cancelled my Warhammer Conquest subscription with Hachette to subscribe this way. The method is to subscribe with Forbidden Planet.

To be clear straight away, with this method you will not get the extra gifts in deliveries 1, 3, 4, 5 & 7. Nor will you get the binders and (if they have them) art books you are charged extra for. But bear with us.

What we learned from Warhammer Conquest is that Forbidden Planet already sells the issues 50p cheaper, at £7.49, rather than the £7.99 RRP. We get the same discount with Mortal Realms (although, issues 4 & 5 are £7.59 for some reason). Subscribing with Forbidden Planet will get you your issues delivered to your door weekly. You’re charged weekly, you can pick and choose the issues and quantities you like. Oh, and this makes it available anywhere outside of the UK!

It took people a while to figure this out, but the way it works is as follows. Go to Forbidden Planet. This link will take to to the Mortal Realms page showing all of the available issues. Add all the issues you want to your basket.

There is a postage cost, but this is how it works. postage for 1 issue is £2. 2 issues is £3. And 3 or more issues is £5.50. That’s the cap. If you order 3 issues or 300 issues (They don’t need to be teh same issues), the postage cost will never rise above £5.50. (I’ve spoken with them on the phone to confirm this).

Example only, I’m not going to buy 300 copies of issue 53!

As the issues are all 50p cheaper anyway, so long as you order 11 issues in one go, you will break even. Order more and you are saving money.

Can’t afford to pay upfront? Don’t worry, you don’t…

When you place the order, you will not be charged immediately, you will only be charged when the issues you’ve ordered become available. When your first delivery is dispatched, you will be charged the full postage amount. However, after this, you will only be charged per week as the issues are despatched and there will be no further postage costs.

The final benefit is that these issues are normally despatched the Friday before the issue is due to be released. So you can get the issues as soon as Saturday or Monday before the issues are released each week on a Wednesday.

What free gits are there with Mortal Realms?

Throughout the early stage of Mortal Realms (up to delivery 7, which is issues 23/26) you will get the following free gifts.

Remember, a “delivery” is a box containing 4 issues. Delivery 7 is not Issue 7 – more on this in a minute.

  • Delivery 1 – Plastic Glue, Sprue Cutters and the end of a Mould Line Remover
  • Delivery 3 – Your first Binder (the other 3 will cost £7.99 each)
  • Delivery 4 – Citadel Painting Handle
  • Delivery 5 – Large Base Brush, Medium Shade Brush and a Small Layer Brush
  • Delivery 7 – A Citadel Paint Pot and Palette (bin this, use a wet palette)

Is there any Premium Wargear?

Yes, when you subscribe with Hachette directly, for £2 extra per issue you will get the following throughout the series. there are 4 of them in total and they come with the following deliveries 5, 8, 13 & 18.

Update 08/01/19: I originally posted the Delivery dates based on the Spanish release however the UK FAQ notes the premium wargear dates are different. Thanks to Michael on our Facebook page for pointing this out.

You can only get this offer if you subscribe prior to Issue 6

So, you’ll be paying £160 across the series and the value of the models is £307.50 So you’re actually saving £147.50.

They have it better on the continent where it’s only 1.50€ extra per issue! But it is about time people outside of the UK got some decent discount on Games Workshop products

Delivery Schedule

Hachette has advertised that this is a weekly magazine, but f you subscribe with Hachette you will get 4 issues ever four weeks, not weekly (again Forbidden Planet send them and charges you weekly). Just noting this as it confuses some people.

As the subscriber extras are advertised as coming in certain “deliveries”, below is a brief breakdown of the deliveries and what issues come with them

What Countries is Mortal Realms Magazine Available in?

Mortal Realms was released First in Spain, on 06/01/20 with the UK following 2 days later on 08/01/20. Mortal Realms. However, if you subscribe with Forbidden Planet as noted above, this is available globally.

Is there a model exclusive to Mortal Realms?

Yes, Xandria Azurebolt – A Stormcast Knight Incantor. She will be in issue 5 of the magazine.

Are there any Hidden Charges?

Not really hidden, if you read the small print. After the First Binder, Hachette will charge you £7.99 for each of the 3 additional binders they send you throughout the series.

There will likely be some exclusive gear too. With Warhammer Conquest, this was some books. When these are available Hachette will auto-enrol you to receive one and will charge you for it. You can opt-out of you are quick (but some people have accidentally had their whole subscription cancelled when doing this). You can also send them back (freepost) charge for a full refund.

Mortal Realms Contents Per Issue Breakdown

Below we list the contents of each Mortal Realms issue, the cost of the issue and the retail cost of the contents. this will help to work out the value of each issue and how much you would save by purchasing the issues vs the products in-store.

Note: I have compares the issues prices to the lowest priced directly comparable individual product. Many of these are available as single sets but you can get them cheaper in boxed games. To directly compare the value of each issue, I am comparing the contents to the individually priced sets so you can compare that issue to the cost if you were to get the exact same contents (and no more) from Games Workshop Directly.

Mortal Realms Issue 23 Contents

This is actually Sprue B from the original Age of Sigmar boxed set – back from before Games Workshop started throwing robes on every Stormcast model they produced.

Ok – this is actually only half of Sprue B from Age of Sigmar (the original Age of Sigmar Boxed Set, which is no longer available). The other half of the sprue came with some Chaos Bloodreavers on (not appropriate for Mortal Realms Magazine). So this is where the value calculation gets tricky.

The AoS boxed set retailed at £75 for 5 sprues – so the immediately obvious value is £15 per sprue. As this is only half of one of those complete sprues the value is £7.50 – which is what I’ve gone with here. However since you can’t actually buy a set which contains this sprue anymore (as far as I’m aware) – it’s priceless.

Thanks to Michael at Edge of Empire, who pointed out that there is a Start Collecting Boxed Set currently available (Thunderstrike Brotherhood) which has the sprues from their original Age of Sigmar Boxed Set. This is priced at £50 for 4 sprues. This is still half of one of those sprues so the current value is £12.50

Nevertheless, £7.99 for 4 Liberators and a Prosecutor is a bargain!

I know I’ll be buying a few sets of these as I love the original (robeless) Stormcast Models

So, I have been told we get “Warcry Scenery” with this issue But there is a lot of Warcry Scenery on offer – Thankfully Forbidden Planet has released the cover art.

Mortal Realms Contents Issue 26 - Cover

What a nightmare this was to work out! I was on the Phone with Kevin from The Hobby Corner to try and figure out where these parts are still available.

So, this was part of the original Warcry Starter set but now it is only available as part of the Azyrite Ruined Chapel scenery set – it was tricky to understand this as this sprue is not pictured as part of that set on GW’s website. But looking closely at the model details, it’s definitely in there.

That set is £35 for the 3 sprues, which includes the bell tower and some smaller ruined walls. (The latter of which is not part of the Mortal Realms collection. Based at the original full collection pics)

Value-wise it’s £35/3 or divided by 2 if for some reason you only wanted to buy the two sprues from that set.

I’m playing this one cautiously, I have been advised this issue comes with 3 Spirit Hosts.

In the retail set, you get the 3 models pictured below, each on their own sprue. However, knowing things can get lost in translation – Hachette’s description may mean just one sprue (as each has 3 ghoulies on it) or it may mean all 3 sprues.

I expect it is the latter and we will be getting the 3 Spirit hosts pictured, but we won’t know for certain until we see the back of Issue 26

Honestly the jury is still out on exactly waht we get and I have gone back to Hachette to ask for more detail – there’s a lot of Scenery in the various warcry sets now and we are getting a lot of it throughout the collection as shown in the pic below

Mortal Realms Contents Issue 30 - Azyrite Ruin

My money is on this following suit from Issue 26 and we will get more of the Azyrite Ruined Walls – which are currently only available as part of the Azyrite Shattered Plaza set (£50 RRP). But in the same breath it could easily be any of the other kits shown above.

I doubt we will get the bell tower at this point as the way Mortal Realms has us building it is with the walled sections as it’s base. and we don’t have them already.

Similar to Issue 10‘s Tomb Banshee, not a great saving here compared to the rest of the series and unlike Issue 10, we don’t get a new paint alongside this one. The Cairn Wraith is a classic sculpt which comes with its own (pretty much useless now) square base.

Maybe this model is good on the tabletop in-game, no idea, I just like the pretty models.

An absolutely bumper set! if anyone remembers Warhammer Conquest Issue 56 – this is in a similar vein and I wouldn’t;t be surprised if people pick up a few of these just to add point numbers to your armies.

The value of the sprue is simply taken from dividing the number of sprues in the set by the cost of the set. but the individual value of the models themselves is much greater than the sum pf this part.

Let me know in the comments please what this model is from?

Update: This is one of the buildable options from the 3 model Dracoline Boxed Set. So I’m expecting the other two to come in a future issue. But with so many configurable options on this one model. it’s certainly worth picking up a few copies.

This is a pretty cool set, I’ve been told we are getting 5 Hexwraiths (or Black Knights) and this is the only set of models I can find which matches the description. quite a chonky issue if we are getting 3 sprues in one set!

As I’ve not owend this set I’m not 100% familair with the contents of this issue. It’s been confirmed we are getting 5 Bladegheist Revenants, but which of the two sprues from the boxed set we are getting is uncler.. looking back over the original image of the full collection, I can’t actually see any Bladegheist. This is a cool issue and one I expect to grab a few copies of. The description I was given is no more than “5x Judicators” I’ve checked the various army boxed sets for a sprue that had 5x Judicators on it and the actual set of Judicators is all I could find.

The retail box basically doubles up what we expect you will get in this issue, so grab a couple of copies. more if you want some army options as these can be built with either skybolt bows, or boltstorm crossbow and storm gladius, with a heavy-weapon shockbolt bow and thunderbolt crossbow included.

I swear we already had these as I’m looking at my shelf and I’ve built them? But I’m guessing I had these from an earlier boxed set as I look back over the complete list and can’t see them listed.

Anyway, you want two copies of this issue. One so that you can build them with Hurricane Crossbows and the other so you can build them with Longstrike crossbows.

though to be fair, each type uses different bases and it;s not clear from the army pic which one we get. My money is on the former so you may need to pick up some oval bases for the larger Longstrike versions.

the issue 11 evaluation is incorrect, because that kit contains 2 of each sprue, so the savings are minimal

Wish this was a way to reach out to a wider audience, rather than making this UK/Spain only.

It’s correct the Soul Wars price? I mean, it includes the big rulebook that costs £35. We can’t ignore it like the dice. So £95 – £35 its £60 for 6 sprues. Each sprue it’s £10. It makes the issues with Soul Wars sprues £2 cheaper, but you aren’t saving as much.

From the warcry terrain I can see the contents of 4 sprues.
Sprue A is the bell tower,
Sprue B is the ruins with the metal bars (starter set had 2 of these)
Sprue C is the ruins with the masonry windows (starter had 2 of these sprues)
Sprue D is the head and platform

What’s missing is sprue E, the gang planks and barricades.

The cover Hachette have released for issue 32 states “4x plastic sprues”, so it looks like we are.

Issue 33 is coming with Stirland Mud and the Texture Tool.
Issue 34 is coming with Dominion Of Sigmar Statue (plus two braziers on pedestals)

Issue 26 & 30 are definitely not part of the Azyrite Chapel set. They do belong to Warcry Terrain, but they are missing all small bits and fences. As far as I can see they are not sold anymore those specific walls.

    Issue 41 appears incorrect.
    It is 1x Prosecutor, 3x Retributor, 2x Liberator Prime and 1x Lord-Relictor.
The remaining part of 23/35 to complete the Thunderstrike Brotherhood, sans-Dracoth.

Looks like 41 is actually 3 Retributors, 2 Liberator Primes, 1 Prosecutor Prime, 1 Lord-Relictor.

Is there going to be an update to this soon? Been checking here regularly, but haven’t seen a shred of new information since last year!
Since I’m only interested in the Nighthaunt (and the odd other issue) and I buy mine from Forbidden Planet online, I rely on this site to determine which issues I need to buy. Obviously I have to pay postage so its nice to add as many issues to the order as I can before buying.Currently my next order will only be 2 issues because I have no idea what’s in issue 54-60 (which are on FB site to pre-order, so I could if I knew what they were!).

The lord arcanum on dracoline in 55 is an optional build in the dracoline evocators kit. It’s weird they’ve gone with this build as the ETB lord arcanum on dracoline is due later. Wouldn’t it have been better to build this guy as an evocator prime? Also the kit costs £35 so splitting over 3, if that’s what they do, is only a small saving. Keep up the good work!

The Lord-Arcanum on Celestial Dracoline from issue number 55 is coming on the box that contains 3 Evocators on Dracolines. One of them can be built as Lord Arcanum instead of Evocator.

Nice. So it’s pretty much the Vanguard Raptors and all the big name characters in the last 14 issues along with some paints and scenery sprinkled in most likely.

Turns out its the Longstrike Bows for the Vanguard-Raptors, judging by the fact oval bases are included
