Mortal Realms Magazine – Bonus Info
And a little bonus info… the first Mortal Realms special issue will be coming up in your next few dispatches! (for those who subscribe directly with Hachette – or you can normally call them, tell them you subscribe at a local shop and order it individually). It’s a beautifully designed exclusive novella. You’ll receive a letter with one of your dispatches with more info, with the option to opt-out.
We should be back to the normal 4 issues per despatch from issues 19-22 (which is what I’ve used for release dates below as Forbidden Planet is all over the shop with their release dates!)
Obviously, this could change if government regulations become stricter again – but my fingers are crossed that we can soon start receiving our 4 issues a month!
Right, enough Chatter – let’s get on with it
Mortal Realms Magazine Issues 25-30 Contents
Mortal Realms Issue 25 Contents
Release Date: 05/08/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £7.50
Total Saving -£0.49 (breaks even if you are buying from Forbidden Planet)
Mortal Realms Issue 26 Contents
Release Date: 12/08/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £11.67 – £17.15
Total Saving £3.68 – £9.51
So, I have been told we get “Warcry Scenery” with this issue But there is a lot of Warcry Scenery on offer – Thankfully Forbidden Planet has released the cover art.
What a nightmare this was to work out! I was on the Phone with Kevin from The Hobby Corner to try and figure out where these parts are still available.
So, this was part of the original Warcry Starter set but now it is only available as part of the Azyrite Ruined Chapel scenery set – it was tricky to understand this as this sprue is not pictured as part of that set on GW’s website. But looking closely at the model details, it’s definitely in there.
That set is £35 for the 3 sprues, which includes the bell tower and some smaller ruined walls. (The latter of which is not part of the Mortal Realms collection. Based at the original full collection pics)
Value-wise it’s £35/3 or divided by 2 if for some reason you only wanted to buy the two sprues from that set.
Mortal Realms Issue 27 Contents
Release Date: 19/08/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £15
Total Saving £7.01
Another set from Warhammer Underworlds, just like the Thorns of the Briar Queen. Pretty much half price for these 3 easy build Stormcast models on scenic bases
Mortal Realms Issue 28 Contents
Release Date: 26/08/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £5.83 – £17.50
Total Saving £-2.16 – £9.51
I’m playing this one cautiously, I have been advised this issue comes with 3 Spirit Hosts.
In the retail set, you get the 3 models pictured below, each on their own sprue. However, knowing things can get lost in translation – Hachette’s description may mean just one sprue (as each has 3 ghoulies on it) or it may mean all 3 sprues.
I expect it is the latter and we will be getting the 3 Spirit hosts pictured, but we won’t know for certain until we see the back of Issue 26
Mortal Realms Issue 29 Contents
Release Date: 02/09/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £7.50
Total Saving -£0.49 (breaks even if you are buying from Forbidden Planet)
Mortal Realms Issue 30 Contents
- Warcry Scenery
Release Date: 09/09/20
Issue Price £7.99
Total Value £TBC
Total Saving £TBC
Honestly, the jury is still out on exactly what we get and I have gone back to Hachette to ask for more detail – there’s a lot of Scenery in the various warcry sets now and we are getting a lot of it throughout the collection as shown in the pic below
My money is on this following suit from Issue 26 and we will get more of the Azyrite Ruined Walls – which are currently only available as part of the Azyrite Shattered Plaza set (£50 RRP). But in the same breath it could easily be any of the other kits shown above.
I doubt we will get the bell tower at this point as the way Mortal Realms has us building it is with the walled sections as it’s base. and we don’t have them already.
